I collect Native American postcards and have approximately 4000 featuring Indigenous peoples & cultures of the Americas, north to south. A portion of my research examines representation of Native culture in the media and I am interested in the educational use of postcards as Cultural & Public History/Anthropology. I have published on the history of Southern Plains Native cards; for a list of postcard reference books, see the bottom of this page.

Blackfeet on the move
a late 1800s photo showing a well dressed family and horses including a very nicely beaded bag hanging on the woman's saddle. The Blackfeet resided along the US/Canadian border and this card comes from a Postcrosser in Canada
tipi poles...when traveling they are tied to make a travois, the A shape allows a small space to made behind the horse to load children and bags. But when they arrive all the poles are gathered together and used for the tent
Interesting this photo ... are spears or sticks? I do not know the native culture of North America, but I had never seen it.
